We also run a series of classes in Schools and Nurseries to help parents get to know a bit more about their child's development
- and how they can support it. These Family
Learning courses provide parents and carers with the support they need to have a better understanding of their child's learning and development and thereby play a more active
role in promoting it. Courses offered by the Family Learning team within the Programme Area of Community-based Learning include: parents as co-educators, understanding the
revised curriculum, understanding linguistic phonics, family health and well-being, ICT for parents, and developing story sacks.
We also offer a range of classes to support parents of children with dyslexia. These include
'Support your child with dyslexia', 'Dyslexia awareness raising for teachers,
classroom assistants and other professionals', and 'Primary Movement'.
