SCA Packaging benefits from Knowledge Transfer

Belfast Metropolitan College has embarked on an exciting, new KTP project with SCA Packaging Ireland which is a division of SCA Packaging based in Warrenpoint, Co. Down. The company manufactures and supplies transit packaging material for the manufacturing sectors in Ireland. SCA is the second largest corrugated product producer in Ireland and second largest cushion foam moulder in Ireland.

The KTP partnership with Belfast Metropolitan was forged to address the company’s objective of establishing an active CRM system which will improve its client relationships and revenue substantially. The project is proving very successful in assisting the company’s growth strategy during a time period of increasing costs for the industry.

Reid Lynas (Senior Lecturer, Belfast Metropolitan College) the mentor for the KTP Associate comments “I find that I am learning so much about the Packaging Business in Ireland and have been able to offer a number of our student’s opportunities to support the KTP project through several mini projects which have been developed for the company”

Belfast Metropolitan College anticipates the development of further KTP projects with SCA Packaging and is delighted with the outcomes for the college, company and graduate associate who are implementing the KTP project.

Kevin Kane the KTP associate comments "I am currently six months into the KTP project. The KTP programme has provided many benefits to me. It has offered me the opportunity to develop the skills I have already acquired and the training provided has helped me to no end.
Having both a company and academic supervisor there to offer advice is one of the main pluses of the programme due to the help and support they give throughout the project. I feel the experience and training I have and will receive during the project will be a great benefit to me in the future and will help me achieve further success throughout my career"
